WR officer cleared in shooting
Walnut Ridge Police Officer Jeff Franks has been cleared of any possible charges in relation to a shooting incident that occurred on March 7.
Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce told The Times Dispatch on Tuesday that the state police completed their investigation and turned the file over to him.
"I have reviewed the state police file and interviewed Investigator Wendell Jines," Boyce said. "I see no criminal wrongdoing on the officer's part."
The Arkansas State Police were called upon to investigate after Officer Franks shot a subject in the leg while responding to a call.
According to the original incident report, Franks responded to 605 West Poplar Street in Walnut Ridge in regards to a theft of property complaint.
An altercation occurred between the two men, and Franks fired his weapon, striking the other man in the upper left leg.
