|
![]() Rachel Looney (from left), Matt Moore and Jack Kent, members of Walnut Ridge High School's Future Business Leaders of America recently attended the state FBLA competition. Moore took first place in cyber security, Looney won third in impromptu speaking and Kent placed fourth in networking concepts. |
Moore took first place in cyber security, qualifying him to attend Nationals in Chicago this summer. This is his third year to win at state and compete at the national level, having previously won first in networking concepts and technology concepts. Moore is the son of Tom and Darlene Moore.
Looney won third place in impromptu speaking at the state competition and was invited to attend nationals when the first place winner announced that she could not. Looney declined the invitation due to a prior commitment. She is the daughter of David and Karen Looney.
Kent, son of Dr. Dan and Sherry Kent, placed fourth in networking concepts at state. FBLA advisor Mary Smith attended the competition with them.
Smith also attended a National Business Educators of America conference in New York earlier this month.
She said the purpose of this training is for teachers to learn all they can about advanced technology.
"This in-depth teacher training is to make sure we are keeping [our students] on track for the future," she said.
