County baseball, softball
tourneys are this week
The 2007 Lawrence County Baseball and Softball Tournaments will be held this week at Black Rock.
The softball tournament is double-elimination and will begin when fourth-seeded Black Rock faces fifth-seeded Sloan-Hendrix on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Six games will be played on Friday, with the last game starting at 8:30 p.m.
Second-seeded Walnut Ridge will play third-seeded Hoxie on Friday at 3:30.
Top-seeded Hillcrest will face the winner of the Black Rock/Sloan-Hendrix game on Friday at 4:30.
The championship game will be played on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The baseball tournament will get underway Friday when fourth-seeded Hoxie squares off against fifth-seeded Sloan-Hendrix at 3:30 p.m. The winner will face top-seeded Walnut Ridge at 6 p.m.
Third-seeded Black Rock will play second-seeded Hillcrest on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Black Rock/Hillcrest winner will face Walnut Ridge, Hoxie or Sloan-Hendrix in the championship game at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Admission to the tournament is $3 for adults and $2 for students.
