Hillcrest girls compete in ClassicDebbie Richey
The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles competed in the Cedar Ridge Softball Classic on March 9 and 10.
The Lady Screamin' Eagles scored one run in the first inning. Viola answered with two runs in the second to take a 2-1 lead.
The tempo picked up in the third inning, with Hillcrest scoring four runs and the Lady Longhorns adding three in their half of the inning to tie the game 5-5.
Hillcrest scored three runs in the fourth inning to take an 8-5 lead. Viola scored four runs in the fifth inning to take a 9-8 victory over the Lady Eagles.
Jessica Broadway took the loss, allowing three runs in 1-1/3 innings.
Jessica Jarrett hit 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Tamara Evans batted 3-for-3, and Natalie Johnson was 2-for-4 at the plate.
The Lady Timberwolves took a 1-0 first-inning lead. The Lady Eagles added nine runs in the second, to Cedar Ridge's two, for a 9-3 lead.
The Lady Timberwolves scored three in the third inning, while Hillcrest scored two. The Lady Eagles held Cedar Ridge in the fourth, taking the 11-6 win.
Johnson took the win, allowing two earned runs in four innings.
Broadway batted 3-for-3 with two doubles. Lauren Pickle hit 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Hillcrest fell to Cave City 10-0 on March 10.
Broadway took the loss from the mound.
Jarrett batted 1-for-3 with a double.
Hillcrest was edged by Mountain View 11-9 on March 10.
Mountain View scored two runs in the first inning for a 2-0 lead. Each team got their game on, as Hillcrest scored seven runs, to Mountain View's eight and trailed 10-7.
Mountain View added one run in the next three innings. Hillcrest made an effort, scoring two runs, but fell 11-9.
Jarrett took the loss from the mound.
Broadway closed with two RBIs.
