ASP still working
Walnut Ridge and Lawrence County are still awaiting the final reports from Arkansas State Police investigators in two separate shooting incidents involving officers.
Investigators are believed to be close to completing their work on both incidents, at which time their findings will be turned over to the prosecuting attorney to determine if any legal action should be taken.
The first investigation is related to a shooting incident involving a Walnut Ridge police officer. A male subject was injured in that incident, which occurred on March 7.
The state police are also completing a report regarding an incident near Powhatan on March 8, when Lawrence County Deputy Virgil Lynch and a suspect were both injured. According to Sheriff Dan Ellison, Lynch shot the suspect, identified as Charles Fry, who had pulled a gun on the deputy.
Many details on both incidents are not being released until the investigations are complete.
Lynch said he would like to express his gratitude to everyone who responded to his aid following the incident. He offered personal thanks to the following:
"To Dan Ellison and my closest working colleages of the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, emergency personnel, state police officers, state parks personnel, Black Rock, Walnut Ridge and Hoxie police departments, local fire departments and first responders. Also to everyone for all the prayers, phone calls, visits, cards, flowers and food.
"To Junior Briner and the staff of Lawrence Memorial Hospital for their concern and excellent medical attention. An extra special thank you to Rodney Parker who came to my aid immediately."
