Hoxie to begin paving streets
Amber AdamsStaff Writer
Hoxie City Council discussed street paving during their regular meeting last week. Mayor Donnie Roberts opened the discussion saying that the city currently has $40,000 to spend on paving.
Aldermen decided to have the street department do the repairs rather than contracting it out.
They voted to have the street committee, including Sherry Moore and Kenneth Quarry, Mayor Roberts and Junior Waldrupe, of the street department, look at the list of recommended street repairs and make a decision.
In other business:
- Clay Sloan, chairman of the board for the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, requested that the city contribute more than just membership dues to the chamber this year.
- council members discussed trucks from Anderson Auto Salvage using city streets to access the business.
- Lanny Tinker, chair of the beautification committee, informed the council of the needs of the city and his plans for beginning a beautification project. (See related story.)
- the council adopted a new personnel policy handbook.
