Emergency response
team certified in LawCo.

Lawrence County has long been blessed with an abundance of people who volunteer their time to help in emergencies as volunteer firefighters and first responders.

The county has taken the next step in emergency response by forming a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

Forty individuals, all volunteers, recently attended training to become a certified CERT program. Steve Jones, director of the Lawrence County Office of Emergency Management, said work began last fall to implement a Lawrence County CERT. continued...

Hoxie to begin paving streets

Hoxie City Council discussed street paving during their regular meeting last week. Mayor Donnie Roberts opened the discussion saying that the city currently has $40,000 to spend on paving.

Tinker addresses council

Lanny Tinker, chair of Hoxie's beautification committee, spoke to the city council during their regular meeting last week, giving them a direction in which to begin the beautification process.

WR council discusses driveway

Walnut Ridge Mayor Michelle Rogers told the city council at their regular meeting on March 13 at City Hall that the city needs to do something about the driveway located at the county shop on Highway 412, where the propane tanker turned over in February, creating a very dangerous situation.

ASP still working
on shootings

Walnut Ridge and Lawrence County are still awaiting the final reports from Arkansas State Police investigators in two separate shooting incidents involving officers. continued...

Williams continues international ties

Dr. H.E. Williams did more at Williams Baptist College than establish the school. He established a tradition of reaching out to foreign nations in an attempt to offer international students a Christian education. continued...
