Lady Eagles split games

The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles softball team competed in the Cedar Ridge Classic at Newark on Saturday.

Hillcrest fell to Viola 9-8, after leading 8-4 going into the fifth inning. Eight walks took their toll on the Lady Eagles, even through they out hit the Lady Longhorns 10-6.

Jessica Jarrett batted 2-for-3, and Tamara Evans tallied a triple in three at bats.

Delaplaine

Delaplaine traveled to Lynn on March 5 for a softball doubleheader against Hillcrest.

In the first game, Hillcrest's Jessica Broadway pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits in a 17-0 victory. Broadway also batted 2-for-4 with a triple and grand slam home run.

In the second game of the evening, Hillcrest recorded 10 hits in an 18-3 victory.
