Hillcrest boys are undefeatedDebbie Richey
Hillcrest took the road trip to Jonesboro and defeated Ridgefield Christian 23-5 in high school baseball action.
Jared Cook went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs for the Screamin' Eagles. Derek Wooten batted 3-for-3 and had three RBIs. Aaron Britton hit 2-for-3 with two RBI's, and Marcus Huskey was 3-for-4 at the plate, with a double.
Hillcrest improved to 6-0 on the year.
Hillcrest defeated Melbourne 10-2 on Thursday at Strawberry.
Cook earned the win from the mound, pitching six and two-thirds innings in relief, striking out 14, walking two and allowing only one hit.
Cook relieved Jared Parker, who pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up two runs on three hits before leaving with a sore shoulder.
Britton went 4-for-4 at bat, with a solo home run, two doubles and three runs scored. Cook batted 2-for-3 with a double, a single, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Wooten went 3-for-4 at the plate with three singles and scored three runs. Tayor Neeley was 2-for-4 for the evening.
Hillcrest hosted Mammoth Spring for a double-header on March 6 at Strawberry.
Hillcrest won the first game 11-1.
Derek Wooten picked up the win in relief of Jordan Hunter. Wooten struck out four and walked two in two innings of work.
At the plate Cook went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Britton batted 2-for-3, with two singles, and Rob Mize went 2-for-3.
Hillcrest earned the sweep with a 19-3 win in the nightcap.
Wooten picked up the win in game two. Wooten pitched two innings, striking out five, walking three and giving up no hits. Donnie Fowler pitched in relief and recorded three strikeouts.
At the plate, Wooten hit 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored. Neeley went 2-for-2 and scored three runs. Huskey batted 2-for-4.
Hillcrest defeated Weiner 12-2 in nine innings on March 5.
Parker picked up the win in relief of Cook. Parker went 4-2/3 innings, striking out three and walking five, while not giving up a run. Cook pitched 4-1/3 innings, striking out six, walking six and giving up one earned run.
At the plate Wooten went 3-for-6 with a double and scored three runs. Britton batted 2-for-5 with a double.
