Hillcrest defeats baseball Mustangs
Hoxie's Blake Snow takes a swing at a pitch as Hillcrest's Jordan Hunter readies himself behind the plate. The two Lawrence County teams faced off with Hillcrest coming out on top 8-4.
Hillcrest defeated Hoxie 8-4 in high school baseball.
Hoxie took a 3-0 lead closing the first inning, but the Eagles stepped up, scoring six runs in the next three innings on their way to the win.
Michael Spain earned the win for Hillcrest, while Billy Mike Watson took the loss for the Mustangs.
Each team notched six hits for the day. Hillcrest committed three errors, with Hoxie recording four.
The Eagles' Jordan Hunter went two-for-three, with two RBI's. Jared Cook batted one-for-two, scored two runs and drew two walks. Aaron Britton went one-for-four and scored two runs, and Jared Parker hit one-for-three with two runs.
For Hoxie, Jonathan Lawrence went two-for-four and scored a run. Watson batted two-for-three with an RBI and scored a run. Blake Snow hit two-for-three.
