Dates moved up
for DST, primary
Daylight Saving Time (DST) is coming much sooner than many of us realize. We will be springing forward one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 11, instead of the first Sunday in April. We will also return to standard time a week later, the first Sunday in November (Nov. 4), instead of the last Sunday of October.
Those changes extend Daylight Saving Time a total of four weeks. The changes are the result of the Energy Policy Act, which President Bush signed on Aug. 8, 2005.
The government believes that people tend to use less lighting in the evenings with the extended evening daylight hours. Along with saving energy, maybe this measure will also help counteract the trend of global warning. continued...
