Airport Commission receives
$100,000 in grant money

The Airport Commission of the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport received a $100,000 check from the State Department of Aeronautics earlier this week. The check is the second installment of a $200,000 grant from the Department of Aeronautics to the airport for construction of Tee Hangars.

Ken Newcom, airport manager, said 10 hangers have been constructed, six of which are currently in use.

"This benefits the city by allowing aircraft from the local area to utilize the airport for storage," Newcom said, adding that people from Jonesboro, as well as Walnut Ridge and Hoxie, are renting the hangar space.
