Cleanup efforts underway

Cleanup efforts are underway throughout Walnut Ridge and Hoxie. Besides what the cities are doing to beautify the area, local businesses and schools are also taking initiative to clear out old buildings.
Wendell Jones, owner of AET Ambulance service has recently torn down the old service station near where his business has been located for the past few years. He is planning to rebuild in the same location. Jones said the new building will house ambulances, offices and sleeping quarters.
"We've been planning for a year or two, trying to get everything together," he said.
The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce will have its quarterly meeting on March 8 at the Northeast Arkansas Educational Cooperative.

Airport Commission receives
The Airport Commission of the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport received a $100,000 check from the State Department of Aeronautics earlier this week. The check is the second installment of a $200,000 grant from the Department of Aeronautics to the airport for construction of Tee Hangars.
