BR teams compete at district

The Black Rock senior high boys and girls teams competed in the 1A-3 South District Basketball Tournament last week at Armorel.

Senior boys
The Black Rock senior boys took on Maynard in the first round on Feb. 12.
Maynard led 14-13 after the first quarter and increased their lead to 28-21 at halftime.
Black Rocknarrowed the gap to 37-32 at the close of the third quarter. Maynard gnawed their way to the next round, slipping by the Zebras 58-52.
Tommy Lawrence led Black Rock with 15 points, followed by Matt Chadwick with 12.

Senior girls
Black Rock and Delaplaine faced off in the first round on Feb. 12.
Delaplaine took a 28-23 lead over the Lady Zebras at halftime. Black Rock was overpowered in the latter stages of the game, falling to Delaplaine 60-47.
Whitney Martin led the Zebras with 19 points, and Stephanie Bagwell added 16 points.
