Hillcrest girls are

The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles claimed the 2A-2 District Basketball Tournament title with a 51-39 victory over the Tuckerman Lady Bulldogs on Saturday at Cedar Ridge.
The Lady Eagles held a 25-19 halftime lead over the Lady Bulldogs.
With the teams back on the court, Hillcrest dished out an explosion of defense, causing Bulldog turnovers, as the Lady Eagles extended their lead to 37-26 approaching the final quarter of play. Hillcrest held off the Lady Bulldogs in the fourth quarter to claim the win.
Jessica Broadway led the Eagles with 22 points. Jessica Jarrett added 17 points, and Tamara Evans recorded five. Whitney Jones tossed in three points, and Lauren Pickle and Natalie Johnson each had two.
The Lady Eagles advanced to the AA North Regional Tournament at Rector, where they were to face Bay this afternoon at 4 p.m.
Hillcrest earned its spot in the finals with a 68-65 overtime win over the host Cedar Ridge Lady Timberwolves on Friday.
Hillcrest lined up for tip off, shy two starters, but the rest of the Lady Eagles stepped up. Despite playing strong defense, the Lady Eagles trailed 16-15 as the second quarter approached. The second period was a continuation of the first, with the Lady Screamin' Eagles trailing the Lady Timberwolves 27-26 at halftime.
Back on the hardwood, Hillcrest maintained their grueling defense and trailed only 40-39 at the end of the third quarter. The teams battled to the buzzer, with Lady Eagle Jarrett hitting a three-pointer to tie the game at 58-58 at the end of regulation.
Hillcrest took the victory in overtime to advance to the finals.
Hillcrest had three players finish with double digits, led by Broadway with 22 points and 12 boards. Jones added 20 points, and Jarrett had 15 points, including shooting four-of-five at free throw line. Johnson tossed in four points, and Terra Polston chipped in three. Pickle and Evans recorded two points each.
