Hillcrest girls are champs

The Walnut Ridge and Hillcrest seventh grade girls opened the day at 1 p.m.
The Lady Bobcats slipped into a 4-2 lead at the close of the first quarter and continued to lead Hillcrest 8-6 at halftime.
After the break, the Lady Eagles stepped up their defense, taking the lead 16-12 at the close of the third quarter. Hillcrest continued to dominate the half, and claimed the championship with a 25-15 win.
Morgan Penn led the Lady Eagles with nine points. Mackenzie Nunnally contributed six points, and Sarah Saffell added four. Kelley Beasley, Kalie Hammock and Samantha Parker had two points each.
Ashley Roacho led the Lady Cats with eight points. Megan Osbahr added five points, and Anna Griffin closed with two.
