WR splits games with TuckermanDebbie Richey
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats and Lady Bobcats traveled to Tuckerman on Friday to take on the Bulldogs in three high school basketball games.
The Lady Bobcats ran out to a 22-6 lead on the Bulldogs heading into the second quarter. The Lady Bulldogs began hitting the boards in the last minutes of the first half, but still trailed 35-24 at halftime.
Walnut Ridge continued to dominate the boards, leading 43-30 as the final quarter of play began and held on to claim a 47-38 victory.
Rachel Looney led the Lady Bobcats with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Chelsea Treadway contributed 11 points and five assists, and Vanessa Oliver also chipped in 11 points. Jordan Rorex added eight points, and Lacey Cobble closed with five.
The Bulldogs edged into a halftime lead of 37-26 over the Bobcats.
The Bobcats began hammering the boards in the second half and closed the margin to 45-41 heading into the final quarter, but could not overcome the Bulldogs, as Tuckerman recorded the 61-56 win.
Seth Chamblee recorded a game high 21 points for the Cats. Cameron Kelley contributed 15 points, and Chris Logan closed with 11.
In junior girls action, the Lady Bulldogs led 12-2 closing the first quarter. Tuckerman continued to dominate the first half, leading 17-4 over the junior Lady Bobcats.
Tuckerman continued to lead 21-7 after halftime. Walnut Ridge began a mini rally in the final quarter of play, but couldn't overtake the Lady Bulldogs, falling 30-22.
Ashley Baker led Walnut Ridge with 12 points. Josie Wagoner added seven points, and Staci Spargo closed with three.
