Hoxie launches website

The city of Hoxie recently launched a website, www.hoxiear.org, that has been in the works since last July.

"The intent of the website is to attempt to cast Hoxie in a favorable light with potential new residents as well as allowing potential new businesses to constantly obtain updated information concerning Hoxie," said Dewey Scott, project coordinator.

A Relocation Information section will assist potential new residents to the area. Another section, Economic Development, features business data and background information along with incentives available for new businesses coming to the area.

There are also several areas on the site created especially for present Hoxie residents including information on elected officials, voting wards and a Hoxie Heritage page. The city's police department and fire department are also highlighted.

Scott said the Hoxie Heritage page is a continuing effort to provide a permanent record of the history of Hoxie and associated activities. It includes a guest book, which allows visitors to provide comments, input, constructive criticism and musings for others to share.

In the future, as a part of the existing business supplement, he would like to upgrade it to include a couple of lines of advertising and contact information from each business in the city.

Scott, with the help of several others, gathered the information for the site, which was put together by a website developer in Searcy, who is originally from Lawrence County.

"The job that Dewey's done is amazing," said Mayor Donnie Roberts. "It has been a blessing for the city of Hoxie."

Any business that is interested in advertising on the site can send a 40 word advertisement, contact information and their business website address, if one exists, to Linda Grisson at the Hoxie City Hall or e-mail the information to hoxie@hoxiear.net.
