Love of writing leads to internshipKemberly Roberts
My name is Kemberly Roberts. I am the new intern at The Times Dispatch and a junior at Williams Baptist College, where I am majoring in liberal arts with an emphasis in journalism and English. I am very excited about working at The TD and am confident that the staff members will teach me many things about the newspaper business.
I am a 2004 graduate of Bay High School, where I was involved in cheerleading, softball, volleyball, FCCLA, FCA, Science Club and Interact Club. I also wrote for the school newspaper, The Spotlight, for two years and served as class secretary for four years.
I developed a love for writing and English when I was in elementary school and was blessed with many brilliant teachers who taught and encouraged me throughout my time at Bay School.
I started at Williams in fall of 2004. I was a cheerleader at WBC during my freshman and sophomore years.
I met my husband, Derick Roberts, at WBC and we were married on July 16, 2005. Derick is a 2003 graduate of Hoxie High School and a senior business administration major at Williams.
In my spare time, I enjoy writing poetry, listening to music, painting, playing the piano and going to church at Sedgwick Baptist, where Derick and I are the youth leaders.
My plans for the future include graduating from college, working for a newspaper or magazine, having children and traveling.
I am very excited about having this opportunity to work at The TD and look forward to learning the ropes of bringing news to the public.
