WR sweeps S-H in senior action

Walnut Ridge hosted the Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds for an evening of basketball action on Jan. 9.
The senior girls game was tied 8-8 after the first quarter before Walnut Ridge eased into a 24-18 halftime lead.
Walnut Ridge continued to fuel their offense in the second half, taking a 39-26 lead entering the fourth quarter and went on to claim the win 50-36.
Chelsea Treadway led the Lady Bobcats with 13 points, while Rachel Looney recorded a double-double of 12 points and 15 boards. Vanessa Oliver added 11 points. Lacey Cobble had five points and Chelsey Linebaugh added four. Carrie Massey and Jessica Osbahr had two each, and Jordan Rorex added a free throw.
Sloan-Hendrix was led by Amanda Green with 16 points and seven rebounds. Amy Green contributed seven points and three rebounds, and Christie Caldwell added four points and two rebounds. Latricia Mans closed the night with two points and two rebounds.
Walnut Ridge senior boys defeated Sloan-Hendrix 62-46.
The Bobcats were led by Chris Logan with 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Cody White contributed 14 points and eight rebounds.
Rodger Dexter led the Greyhounds with 20 points.
In junior girl's action, Sloan-Hendrix took a small lead of 10-8 at the close of the first quarter.
The junior Lady Greyhounds continued to hammer the boards, leading 23-10 over the Lady Cats at halftime.
Sloan-Hendrix' intensity did not let up after the break, as they led 33-17 as the final quarter approached. The Lady Hounds' effort paid off, as they defeated the Lady Bobcats 43-25.
Staci Spargo led Walnut Ridge with nine points. Josie Wagoner, Regan Jean and Ashley Baker contributed four points each. Lexi Harris and Ashton Lawson had two points each.
Sloan-Hendrix was led by Alivia Hackworth with 15 points and three rebounds. Kara Morris contributed six points and four rebounds. Haley Slusser made six points and one rebound, and Morgan Smith closed with two points and one rebound.
