BR has tough week

Black Rock traveled to Armorel on Friday to take on the Tigers in high school basketball action.

The Black Rock senior boys fell to Armorel 69-51.

Michael Franks led the Zebras with 16 points, and Tommy Lawrence had 14.

In senior girls action, Armorel's Brittany Brooks scored 34 points to lead the Lady Tigers past Black Rock 50-40.

The Lady Zebras trailed by two at halftime 20-18, but Armorel increased its lead to 35-23 at the end of the third quarter.

Whitney Martin led Black Rock with 22 points.

The Armorel junior girls defeated Black Rock 36-25.

Izard County Consolidated

The Black Rock senior boys and girls traveled to Brockwell on Jan. 9 to face Izard County Consolidated.

In the senior boys game, the Cougars took a 36-21 lead at halftime, and maintained control in the second half, leading 57-33 after three quarters, en route to a 70-43 win.

Franks led Black Rock with 16 points.

The senior Lady Zebras fell to ICC 60-30.

Martin led the Lady Zebras with 18 points.
