People to People
Charles Lee, principal at Walnut Ridge High School, congratulates Tonya Catron, a junior, on her acceptance into the People to People Student Ambassador class of 2007.
As a student ambassador Catron will spend 14 to 21 days in a foreign country, interacting with another culture, while completing educational projects as part of a People to People Ambassador Program this summer.
Catron will complete 12 hours of education and orientation prior to the program. She will also earn a social studies credit equal to 120 classroom hours, with a tuition-paid, high school level elective course, ambassadorial studies.
"Throughout my experience with People to People International, I have seen student ambassadors embrace diversity and celebrate common human experience that fosters international goodwill," said Mary Jean Eisenhower, president and CEO of People to People International.
"Perhaps most remarkably, I have observed people of other nations welcoming student ambassadors into their homes and building the lifelong bonds of friendship." Tonya is the daughter of Mike and Becky Catron of Walnut Ridge.
