Lady Cats beat Cedar RidgeDebbie Richey
Walnut Ridge's Lady Bobcats hosted conference foe Cedar Ridge on Friday and picked up a 57-47 win over the Lady Timberwolves.
The Lady Bobcats grabbed a 9-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a 20-17 lead as the ladies left the hardwood for halftime.
The Lady Cats began hammering the boards in the third quarter and increased their lead over the Lady Timberwolves to 37-29 heading into the final period of play.
Chelsea Treadway led Walnut Ridge with 22 points. Vanessa Oliver added nine points, while Rachel Looney totaled eight points and 20 rebounds. Lacey Cobble contributed seven points. Jordan Rorex closed with three points and six steals. Carrie Massey notched three points, and Sarah Emison chipped in two.
Cedar Ridge defeated Walnut Ridge in junior girls action 49-35.
The Lady Timberwolves slipped by the Lady Bobcats at the close of the first quarter 7-6. Cedar Ridge increased their lead to 24-13 heading into halftime.
Back on the court, the junior Lady Bobcats could not overpower the Timberwolves and trailed 32-18, as the last quarter approached. Despite Walnut Ridge's attempts, Cedar Ridge defeated the Lady Bobcats 49-35.
Staci Spargo led the Bobcats with 10 points, followed by Ashley Baker with nine. Amanda Emison contributed five points, and Josie Wagoner closed with four. Lexi Harris and Beth Massey each tossed in two points, and Briana Hall recorded a free throw.
