Zebras fall to Maynard,
defeat Ridgefield Christian

The Black Rock Zebras hosted the Maynard Tigers Friday night in high school basketball action.
Cody Gustoff scored 34 points to lead Maynard to a 77-71 win over the Zebras in senior boys action.
Les Foster led Black Rock with 17 points, followed by Matt Chadwick with 15 and Chris Richardson with 14. Tommy Lawrence closed with 12 points.
In senior girls action, Maynard led 17-14 at the close of the first quarter. The Lady Tigers increased their lead to 37-23 at halftime and sealed the win 67-51 over the Lady Zebras.
Whitney Martin led Black Rock with 21 points, and Stephanie Bagwell followed with 13.
Black Rock hosted the Ridgefield Christian Warriors in senior boys basketball on Jan. 2.
The Zebras took an early 13-9 lead to close out the first quarter and held a 25-24 lead over Ridgefield Christian as they left the hardwood for halftime.
Despite the Warriors' efforts, the Zebras held a 38-35 lead at the end of the third quarter and pulled away for a 70-46 victory.
Michael Franks led the Zebras with 17 points and Matt Chadwick recorded a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Tommy Lawrence also notched double digits with 13 points and 13 rebounds, and Les Foster had 13 points.
The Black Rock junior girls fell to the junior Lady Warriors 28-16.
