Hoxie boys win one, lose one

The Marmaduke Greyhounds overwhelmed Hoxie 74-43 in senior boys basketball Friday at Marmaduke.
Hoxie trailed 54-20 at the halftime break and 70-33 heading into the final quarter.
Tanner Jarrett led the Mustangs with 12 points.
Marmaduke defeated Hoxie 53-27 in junior boys action.
Ray Volner scored 28 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead the Hoxie Mustangs to a 61-41 win over Harrisburg on Dec. 12 at Hoxie.
The Mustangs took charge in the first half and led 39-16 at halftime.
Hoxie continued the explosion of baskets on Harrisburg in the second half, to lead 53-27 heading into the final quarter of play.
Also for Hoxie, Jarrett contributed 10 points, and Tyler Thompson netted five points and 15 boards.
Harrisburg defeated Hoxie 34-28 in a hard-fought junior high game.
The Hornets slipped to a small lead of 12-10 to close out the first quarter.
Harrisburg continued to hold a one-point lead over Hoxie at 17-16 as the men headed to the dressing room.
Hoxie could not catch the Hornets in the third quarter, as Harrisburg led 24-20 to close out the quarter.
Jeremy Anglin led Hoxie with 14 points and five rebounds, while Jake Hitt pulled down seven boards for the night.
