Bobcats earn exciting winDebbie Richey
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats and Quitman Bulldogs battled into overtime before the Bobcats pulled out a 47-43 win in senior boys basketball on Friday at Quitman.
The Bobcats pounced to a 19-10 lead closing out the first quarter and held a lead of 22-19 at halftime.
The Bobcats overpowered Quitman 32-27, heading into the final period of play, but the Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter, tying the game 41-41 at the end of regulation.
Chris Logan led Walnut Ridge with 23 points. Seth Chamblee contributed 11 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Tyler Kennedy chipped in 10 points, and Cameron Kelley recorded eight assists.
The Bobcats lost a close contest to White County Central 45-43 on Dec. 12 at Judsonia.
Walnut Ridge led 25-22 at halftime and 36-34 after three quarters, before WCC slipped past the Cats in the final period.
Logan led the Bobcats with 15 points, and Kelley added 14.
