Screamin' Eagles have tough week

Hillcrest battled the Tuckerman Bulldogs in a senior boys B basketball game Thursday night at Lynn.
Hillcrest jumped ahead in the first quarter to take a 17-11 lead over the Bulldogs and continued to lead 32-25 at halftime.
Tuckerman surged back after halftime to take a 55-47 lead over the Eagles to close out the third quarter. Tuckerman continue to dominate the boards in the final quarter to pull out the win 67-61.
Chris Blevins and Patrick Corder led the Eagles with 14 points each. Ludie Sexton and Jordan Hunter contributed 13 points each. Jared Parker chipped in five points, and Donnie Fowler and Robert Jones tossed in two points each.
The Tuckerman junior high boys defeated Hillcrest 49-47.
Tuckerman took an 11-7 lead over the Eagles in the first quarter. Hillcrest was overpowered by the Bulldogs and trailed 22-13 at halftime.
The Bulldogs continued leading 37-21 over Hillcrest heading into the final period of play. Hillcrest came out with a vengeance in the last quarter and owned the hardwood, but couldn't overcome the Bulldogs.
Chris Jones led the Eagles with 12 points. Josh Mayland and Derek Wooten netted 10 points each, and Dylan Wooten contributed seven points. Tyler Crews added four points, and Tye Hines chipped in three.
The Midland Mustangs overpowered Hillcrest 63-47 in senior boys basketball on Dec. 12 at Lynn.
Midland surged to a 26-4 lead after one quarter and held a commanding 42-18 lead at halftime.
The Eagles continued battling in the second half, but trailed 50-30 entering the final quarter.
Aaron Britton led Hillcrest with 15 points, two rebounds and two assists. Rob Mize contributed 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Dillion Simpson added nine points, one rebound and one assist. Blevins netted four points and two rebounds, and Corder had three points. Sexton closed with two points, three rebounds and an assist. Dustin Durham also had two points, and Hunter recorded an assist and a rebound.
Cave City visited Hillcrest on Dec. 11 for junior high A, junior B and seventh grade boys basketball action.
In the junior high A game, Cave City took an 8-5 lead heading into the second quarter and continued to lead 16-9 at halftime.
Cave City led 33-15 as the third quarter came to a close and took home a 36-15 win over Hillcrest.
Derek Wooten led the Eagles with 10 points. Hunter Durham and Crews each had two points and Jones netted a free throw.
In the junior boys B game, Cave City took a 7-0 first quarter lead, but Hillcrest rallied in the second quarter and trailed only 9-7 at halftime.
The Eagles jumped ahead 18-15 in the third quarter, but couldn't hold off the Cavemen, as Cave City captured the 26-18 win.
Hillcrest was led by Mayland with 10 points. Coty Richey had six points, and Ryan Anderson added two points.
Cave City began their evening sweep by winning a seventh grade boys game 38-15.
Cave City raced to a 13-2 lead after the first quarter and led the Eagles 29-9 entering the final quarter.
Austin Harris led Hillcrest with six points, and Cray Howard added three points. Ethan Holder, Scotty Burris and Tyler Parker each had two points.
