Lady Mustangs defeat Manila

The Hoxie Lady Mustangs improved their record to 8-2 with a convincing 68-46 win over Manila on Thursday at Hoxie.
The Lady Mustangs were in control throughout, leading 14-10 heading into the second quarter, 35-19 at halftime and 54-38 going into the final quarter of play en route to the runaway win.
Megan Black led Hoxie with 18 points, and Jessica Anglin had a double double with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Rachel Goff followed with 14 points, and Ashley Glenn closed the night with eight points.
The junior Lady Mustangs stampeded Manila 38-13.
Hoxie led 9-5 at the close of the first quarter, 15-6 at the halftime break and 25-11 closing out the third quarter.
Alyssa McConnell led the junior Mustangs with 16 points. Amy Galbreath and Chasity Becker each added nine points.
Hoxie also won a seventh grade girls contest 33-7.
Hoxie led 7-2 after one quarter, 14-6 at halftime and 22-7 heading into the final quarter.
Autumn Nelson led Hoxie with 10 points. Ashlyn Abbott, Katelyn Cook and Hali Pratt each had six points.
The Lady Mustangs traveled to Piggott on Dec. 4 and swept three games from the Lady Mohawks.
The senior Lady Mustangs trailed early, but used a strong second-half effort to record a hard-fought 71-65 win.
Piggott led 19-10 as the first quarter came to a close, but Hoxie began their comeback in the second period and trailed only 34-32 at halftime.
The Lady Mustangs' surge continued in the third quarter, as they moved out to a 52-42 lead heading into the final period.
Anglin led Hoxie with 28 points, including four three pointers. Jessica Barber and Black each added 14 points, and Goff hit three-three pointers to finish with nine points.
Hoxie defeated Piggott 39-35 in a junior high girls game.
Hoxie grabbed a 10-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and still led 19-12 as the first half came to a close.
The Mustangs increased their lead to 25-18 as the last quarter approached and held on in the final period.
McConnell led Hoxie with 16 points, followed by Galbreath with 13.
The Hoxie seventh grade girls defeated Piggott 27-20.
Piggott slipped by the Mustangs, leading 8-5 at the end of the first quarter. Hoxie hit the court and took a one-point lead 11-10 heading into the break.
The Mustangs continued to own the court, leading 20-12 as the final quarter approached.
The Mustangs were led by Abbott with 10 points. Nelson added six points, and Cook contributed five.
