Riverside Rebels are
WBC champions

The top-seeded Riverside Rebels defeated the third-seeded Tuckerman Bulldogs 80-60 to claim their second consecutive title in the 47th annual Williams Baptist College Tournament on Saturday.

Garrett Weaver scored 26 points and dished out six assists to lead a balanced Riverside offense. Also for the Rebels, Jordan Adcock had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Glen Graham had 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Cody Richardson added 15 points and six assists.

For Tuckerman, Hunter Gates, Alex Sullins, Marcus Ballentine and Landon Russell each scored 10 points.

Tuckerman ~ Southside

Tuckerman defeated Southside 69-68 in one boys' semifinal on Friday.

Sullins led the Bulldogs with 20 points.

Riverside ~ Marmaduke

Riverside defeated fourth-seeded Marmaduke 86-65 in the other boys' semifinal on Friday.

Graham led the Rebels with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks.

Second round
WR ~ Marmaduke

The fifth-seeded Walnut Ridge Bobcats squared off against Marmaduke in second-round action on Nov. 28.

The Greyhounds raced to a 19-11 lead at the close of the first quarter. Walnut Ridge came alive in the second quarter. Seth Chamblee's dunk with 35 seconds left in the quarter pulled the Cats to within 31-28 at halftime.

Marmaduke put the game away in the second half, extending the lead to 53-38 after three quarters. The Bobcats were unable to catch the Greyhounds in the final period, as Marmaduke claimed the 70-57 win.

Chamblee led Walnut Ridge with 20 points. Chris Logan followed with 17 points and 10 boards, and Cameron Kelley added 12. Tyler Kennedy closed with six points, and Robert Rider notched two points.

Hoxie ~ Tuckerman

Tuckerman advanced to the semifinals by defeating Hoxie 67-55 in a second-round game on Thursday.

Tuckerman took a slim 12-9 lead over Hoxie at the close of the first quarter. Despite Hoxie's attempts, the Bulldogs held a tight rein on the Mustangs, leading 33-28 at halftime.

Hoxie was overpowered by the Bulldogs in the third period and trailed the Bulldogs 48-40 at the close of the third quarter.

The Mustangs' were led by Ray Volner with 17 points. Jonathan Lawrence contributed 15 points, and Tanner Jarrett added 10. Byron Stocker tossed in four points, and Billy Mike Watson and Tyler Thompson netted three points each. Tyler Wallis had two points, and Thomas Brady recorded a free throw.

Riverside ~ Delaplaine

Riverside defeated eighth-seeded Delaplaine 77-54 in second-round action on Tuesday.

Weaver and Graham had 23 points apiece to lead Riverside.

Pocahontas ~ Southside

Seventh-seeded Southside upset second-seeded Pocahontas 61-54 in a second-round matchup on Thursday.

Southside was led by Garrett Batterton with 17 points.

First round
WR ~ Sloan-Hendrix

Walnut Ridge faced the 12th-seeded Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds in a first-round game on Nov. 27.

Walnut Ridge held a 16-12 lead heading into the second quarter, but the Greyhounds came back in the second quarter to take a 22-20 lead into halftime.

Walnut Ridge began to maneuver around the Hounds in the third period, to regain the lead at 38-36. The Bobcats began to pull away in the final quarter for a 61-50 win.

Logan led Walnut Ridge with 21 points. Cameron Kelley contributed 16 points, and Barrett Kelley and Seth Chamblee each tossed in 11 points. Tyler Kennedy closed with five points, and Cody White added four. Tyler Meadors and Rider each had two points.

Royce Pace led the Greyhounds with 18 points. Johnnie Snyder added 16 points, and Stanley Archer closed with five. Chad Orrick tossed in three points, and Logan Collins, Corey Baldridge and Jake Mans notched two points each.

Delaplaine ~ Viola

Delaplaine defeated ninth-seeded Viola 51-40 in the first round on Monday.

The top three seeds in the boys' bracket, Riverside, Pocahontas and Tuckerman received first-round byes.
