Sen. Wooldridge encourages
public service, regionalism

The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting at noon Dec. 1 at the Walnut Ridge Country Club. The meeting included presentation of awards, announcement of retiring and new board members, a recap of chamber activities and goals, a report on job trends and the featured speaker, State Senator Tim Wooldridge of Paragould.
Clay Sloan, chairman-elect, served as master of ceremonies and announced the top 2006 Chamber award recipients. They are:
Sherry Smith Moore of Hoxie has been named the 2006 Community Service Award recipient. The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce gives the award to an individual who has demonstrated the highest ideals in community service, who has bettered the lives of others and who is a role model.
Pratt Auto Salvage is Business of YearPratt Auto Salvage and Sales, located at 170 Industrial Drive in Hoxie, has been named the 2006 Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year. The company is an example of a business that has taken full advantage of computerization and the Internet to grow a very successful business that ships auto parts all over the United States. continued...

Cavenaugh Auto Group, owned and operated by Don Cavenaugh, has received the 2006 Industry of the Year Award from the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. Begun as a single dealership, Cavenaugh Ford in Black Rock, the company has steadily grown to evolve into Cavenaugh Auto Group with numerous automobile dealerships in several Arkansas cities.
