Charles Lee, principal at Walnut Ridge High School, congratulates Cameron Kelley on his selection as the school's DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Good Citizen.
Kelley named DAR
Cameron Kelley was recently selected as the Walnut Ridge High School DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Good Citizen.
Good Citizen at WR
Selection is based on the qualities of dependability, including truthfulness, loyalty and punctuality, and service, including cooperation, courtesy and consideration of others.
It is also based on qualities of leadership, including personality, self-control and ability to assume responsibility, and patriotism, including unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation.
To select the DAR Good Citizen, the faculty selects finalists from the senior class. The class then votes to select the recipient of the honor.
Other finalists were Rachel Fultner, Whitney Ginn and Matthew Moore, with Ginn selected as the runner-up for the award.
As the winner, Kelley has entered the DAR scholarship contest, which includes writing an essay on "Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility to Preserve It".
He will also be honored by the Jonesboro Chapter of the DAR at a program in the spring. Kelley is the son of Terry and Sloane Kelley.
He has been an active participant in the athletic programs at the school along with Key Club activities and Teens Coaching Kids through BADD membership.
Kelley is also active in his church and in other school clubs and programs.
