Lady Cats win another

The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats remained a perfect 7-0 on the season with a 47-36 win over visiting Midland on Nov. 21.

The Lady Bobcats jumped out to a 16-10 lead at the close of the first quarter. Walnut Ridge continued to control the boards in the second period and extended their lead to 27-15 at halftime. They held a 34-24 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Rachel Looney led the Lady Cats with 21 points. Jordan Rorex scored 10 points and Chelsey Linebaugh added five. Vanessa Oliver contributed four points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Lacey Cobble totaled three points, while Chelsea Treadway and Sarah Emison each closed with two points.

In junior high action, Midland posted a 36-17 win over the junior Lady Bobcats. Midland led 9-7 at the close of the first quarter and increased their lead to 19-9 at halftime.

Walnut Ridge showed a display of defense, but still trailed 23-15 heading into the final quarter.

Staci Spargo led Walnut Ridge with eight points and Regan Jean contributed four. Lexi Harris added three points, and Josie Wagoner added two.
