Lady Mustangs hammer HughesDebbie Richey
The Hoxie Lady Mustangs hammered Hughes 59-19 in senior girls basketball on Nov. 21 at Hoxie.
The Lady Mustangs were never challenged, as they led 26-4 after the first quarter, 47-7 at halftime and 59-13 after three quarters.
Jessica Anglin had 15 points and Jessica Barber added 12 for Hoxie.
Hughes defeated Hoxie 57-48 in junior girls' action.
The junior Lady Mustangs took an early 10-8 lead at the close of the first quarter, but Hughes rallied in the second period to take a 25-17 lead at the halftime break.
The Jr. Lady Mustangs bounced back in the third quarter to close to within 32-28 heading into the final quarter.
Amy Galbreath led Hoxie with 20 points, including three three-pointers. Alyssa McConnell added 16 points, and Brittany Hembrey notched eight.
The East Poinsett County Lady Warriors came to Hoxie on Nov. 20 and defeated the Lady Mustangs 59-48.
The game was close throughout the first half, with Hoxie leading 14-13 after one quarter and EPC coming back to take a 26-25 lead at halftime.
The Lady Warriors moved out to a 43-35 lead heading into the fourth period en route to the win.
Rachel Goff led Hoxie with 15 points. Barber had 13 points, and Anglin added 12.
The junior Mustangs moved to 3-0 on the season with a 42-36 win over EPC.
The game was tied 6-6 after the first quarter, but Hoxie jumped to a 24-14 halftime lead.
Hoxie continued to lead 33-24 heading into the fourth period.
Galbreath led Hoxie with 16 points. Hembrey added 11 points, and McConnell added 10.
Hoxie won a seventh grade girls game 25-24 over EPC.
After trailing EPC 3-0 after one quarter, Hoxie stepped up to cut the lead to 7-6 at halftime. The Lady Mustangs took the lead 14-12 heading into the final period.
Ashlyn Abbott led Hoxie with 17 points, and Autumn Nelson had four points.
