Sisters reunited during
Thanksgiving holiday
![]() Christy Teel (left) and her sister, Tracy Madsen, were reunited over the Thanksgiving holiday after being separated for more than 30 years. |
Tracy Madsen of Naples, Fla., found her sister, Christy Hayes Teel of Hoxie, three weeks before Thanksgiving. Madsen used the Internet to locate her sister, whom she had not seen since Christy was one and Tracy was two.
The two, along with other siblings, were separated when their mother died while they were living in Illinois. The children were taken in by different relatives.
Christy, who was adopted by her grandparents, Harold and Rose Hayes, grew up in Lawrence County.
While Tracy was here, she and her two children, Brittney and Terry, enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal at the home of Gary and Evelyn Teel in Walnut Ridge.
The Teel's son, Michael, is married to Christy, and they have three children, Alex, Drake and Selena.
Tracy and her children marked the holiday with Christy and her family. They also visited Harold and Rose Hayes, while here. Harold still lives in Hoxie, and Rose is a resident at Lawrence Hall. Tracy was also able to meet several other relatives.
Christy has also talked with her other set of grandparents, Vern and Gladys Cavitt, several times since Tracy found her. The Cavitts, who raised Tracy in Illinois, also live in Florida now.
