Greyhounds split games with SalemDebbie RicheyStaff Writer The Salem Greyhounds visited Imboden on Nov. 14 and defeated Sloan-Hendrix 60-38 in senior high boys basketball. Salem took an 18-7 lead in the first quarter and increased the lead to 30-11 at halftime. Sloan-Hendrix outscored Salem 15-13 in the third period, but trailed 43-26 entering the fourth quarter. Sloan-Hendrix was led by Chad Orrick with 14 points and Drew Myers with 10. In junior high action, Sloan-Hendrix used a strong second-half performance to defeat Salem 49-33. Sloan-Hendrix took an early 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Salem rallied to tie the game 19-19 at halftime. Sloan-Hendrix came out strong in the third quarter to move out to a nine-point lead at 33-24 and continued to extend their lead in the final period to take the win. Coy Yasler led Sloan-Hendrix with 20 points, and Zack Ogden had 17. The Sloan-Hendrix seventh grade boys posted a 24-4 win over Salem. Sloan-Hendrix led 7-3 at the close of the first quarter, 17-3 at halftime and 24-3 entering the final quarter. Dewayne Gann and Daniel Rowsey each had six points to lead Sloan-Hendrix. Sam Clem and Lucas Conrad had four points each, and Steven Ward had two. |
