Lady Bobcats are 5-0

The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats remained undefeated with a 41-30 win over Quitman on Friday at Walnut Ridge.

Quitman got off to a fast start, taking an 8-2 lead over the Lady Cats at the end of the first quarter. Walnut Ridge continued to struggle in the second period, trailing 17-9 at halftime.

The Lady Bobcats found their game in the third quarter and tied the game 22-22 heading into the final period. Walnut Ridge continued to dominate Quitman in the fourth quarter to take the win.

Vanessa Oliver led the Lady Bobcats with 15 points. Rachel Looney had 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Lacey Cobble and Chelsey Linebaugh added four points each. Chelsea Treadway and Samantha Knight closed with three points each, and Jordan Rorex added a free throw.

The Lady Bobcats' record improved to 5-0 with the win.

White County Central

Walnut Ridge hosted the White County Central Lady Bears on Thursday.

In the senior high game, the Lady Cats led 9-7 over the Lady Bears at the close of the first quarter. As halftime approached, the Lady Bobcats put a lid on the Lady Bears, leading 22-17.

Walnut Ridge held WCC to four points in the third quarter to take a 29-21 lead heading into the final quarter of play. The Lady Cats spoiled the WCC road trip by taking the 50-38 win.

For the Lady Cats, Looney topped out with 20 points and 24 rebounds. Treadway contributed 16 points. Rorex closed with six points, and Sarah Emison added five. Oliver had two points, and Linebaugh added a free throw.

Delaplaine

The Lady Cats defeated Delaplaine 38-25 on Nov. 14 at Walnut Ridge.

Walnut Ridge took a 9-7 lead over the Lady Indians at the close of the first quarter and held a 17-13 lead at halftime.

The Lady Cats took control of the game in the second half, moving out to a 29-19 lead after three quarters.

Walnut Ridge was led by Looney with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Linebaugh had seven points and Rorex added six. Oliver and Treadway each had four points.

The junior Lady Bobcats recorded a 42-34 win over Delaplaine.

The junior Cats took an early 13-8 lead in the first quarter, extended to a 23-12 advantage at halftime and held a 36-24 lead entering the final quarter.

Josie Wagoner led Walnut Ridge with 14 points, followed by Ashley Baker with 10 points. Staci Spargo and Regan Jean each had six points. Lexi Harris had four points, and Amanda Emison scored two.

Ridgefield Christian

The junior Lady Bobcats traveled to Jonesboro on Nov. 13 and were edged by Ridgefield Christian 31-27.

Walnut Ridge held a small 7-5 lead after the first quarter, but Ridgefield Christian rallied to tie the game 14-14 at halftime. The game was tied again at 23-23 heading into the final period.

Wagoner led the Lady Cats with 10 points. Spargo and Baker each had seven points. Jean added two, and Harris had a free throw.
