Lady Hounds defeat WCC
The Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds defeated the White County Central Lady Bears 42-37 in senior high girls basketball on Friday at Imboden.
The Lady Bears took a small lead over the Lady Greyhounds 9-6 at the close of the first quarter. Sloan-Hendrix rallied in the second quarter to take a 14-9 lead to the dressing room at halftime.
The Lady Hounds let the lead slip back to the Bears 29-26 at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Hounds rallied again in the final period to claim the win.
Brittany Conrad led Sloan-Hendrix with 20 points and nine rebounds. Katelyn Morris contributed eight points and four rebounds. Megan Break added six points and 10 rebounds, and Amanda Green tossed in four points and had four rebounds. Latricia Mans closed with two points and a rebound, and Amy Green added two points and four rebounds.
In junior girl's action, Sloan-Hendrix jumped ahead of White County Central to lead 5-0 at the close of the first quarter. The junior Lady Hounds continued to hammer the Lady Bears and led 23-3 at the end of the first half.
Sloan-Hendrix continued to dominate the game in the second half, leading 34-10 heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Greyhounds put this one in the books as they won 36-22 over White County Central.
Kristin Belcher led Sloan-Hendrix with nine points and four rebounds. Ashley Stallings contributed seven points and two rebounds. Hannah Rowsey, Gennifer Simpson and Haley Slusser each closed with four points. Alivia Hackworth tossed in two points, and had three rebounds and three steals. Morgan Smith also added two points.
