Sedgwick man dies in
truck, train accident

An accident involving a pickup truck and a train resulted in the death of a Sedgwick man, according to Trooper Jeremy Conner of the Arkansas State Police.

Daniel Lee Maggard, 38, the driver of a 1989 GMC pickup was pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County Coroner Robert Warden after his truck was stuck by a northbound Union Pacific train.

The accident occurred at 2:50 p.m. on Saturday on County Road 730 as Maggard was crossing the tracks, which run parallel to Highway 67, at Calvin Crossing, south of Minturn.

According to the report, the driver of the train was Martin Hinkle of North Little Rock.
