Progress will require
continued citizen involvement

Every time there is an election people are hopeful for better times and great things to come.

Citizens rally around their candidates during their campaigns or go to bat for their issues with great fervor when it comes time for ballots to be cast.

Unfortunately, the rest of the year we too often forget to do our part in trying to make sure that those better things actually come to pass.

If we, as citizens, could put as much thought and energy into helping our elected officials throughout the year as we do at election time, there would be no limit to what could be done.

Only participating in the process and pushing for progress during election time is like trying to win the lottery when the pot is at $93 million. One is much more likely to win the lottery by consistently purchasing a ticket, than by only purchasing one when public interest is high.

While the likelihood of winning the lottery is slim no matter what, the likelihood of seeing progress in Lawrence County can be increased greatly with a consistent effort by its citizens to strive for better things.

Great things can happen, but they won't happen magically and they won't happen overnight. If we want to see progress in Lawrence County, we have to go after it every day.
