Lady Hounds beat QuitmanDebbie Richey
The Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds defeated the Quitman Lady Bulldogs 44-33 in conference play Thursday at Imboden.
Quitman took a small 9-7 lead over the Lady Hounds at the close of the first quarter.
The Lady Hounds escaped Quitman's defense in the second quarter to take a 19-14 lead at halftime.
Sloan-Hendrix increased their lead to 27-18 after three quarters.
Katelyn Morris led the Lady Hounds with 14 points, four rebounds and five steals. Megan Break contributed eight points and pulled down 16 rebounds. Amanda Green recorded eight points and two rebounds. Christie Caldwell added six points and four rebounds. Brittany Conrad closed with four points and six rebounds, and Andy Green closed the night with four points and two rebounds.
Sloan-Hendrix also won the junior high girls game 29-18 over Quitman.
The junior Lady Hounds grabbed an 11-6 lead over Quitman at the close of the first quarter. After the junior lady Bulldogs to two points in the second quarter, Sloan-Hendrix held a 17-8 lead as the first half came to an end.
Sloan-Hendrix continued to focus, which resulted in a 24-12 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
Heidi Powers led the Lady Hounds with nine points and two rebounds. Alivia Hackworth added seven points and four rebounds. Kristin Belcher contributed five points, and Hannah Rowsey closed with four. Amanda Holland and Ashley Stallings tossed in two points each.
The Lady Greyhounds opened conference play on Nov. 7 when they hosted Midland at Imboden.
The game was tied 8-8 at the close of the first quarter, but the Lady Hounds slipped in a two-point lead 18-16 as they left the court at halftime.
Sloan-Hendrix hammered Midland in the third period to move out to a 39-31 lead. The Lady Hounds continued extending their lead in the final period to record a 53-33 win.
The Lady Hounds were led by Green with 20 points and two rebounds. Morris followed with 18 points and seven rebounds. Conrad recorded seven points and nine rebounds. Break contributed three points and eight rebounds. Caldwell also had three points and a rebound, and Latricia Mans closed the night with two points and four rebounds.
Valley View defeated Sloan-Hendrix 54-24 in junior high girls basketball on Nov. 6 at Imboden.
Valley View won a junior girls B contest 22-15 and a seventh grade girls game 30-14.
