Lady Eagles run over Roadrunners

The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles traveled to Ravenden Springs on Nov. 7 and recorded a dominating 60-28 win over the Oak Ridge Central Lady Roadrunners in high school basketball action.

Hillcrest put the game away early, taking a 20-0 lead after the first quarter.

Breanna Doyle led Hillcrest with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jessica Jarrett contributed 10 points, while Whitney Jones had eight points and eight rebounds. Terra Polston recorded eight points, and Amber Glenn closed with six. Jessica Broadway made four points, Lauren Pickle had three and Kalie Durham tossed in two.

In junior high action, the junior Lady Screamin' Eagles defeated the junior Lady Roadrunners 34-20.

Miranda Doyle and Natalie Johnson each had seven points. Johnson also had five rebounds. Tamara Evans contributed six points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Katelyn Hammock and Kelsea Sneed contributed four points each, and Samantha Blevins added two points.


Johnson scored 23 points as Hillcrest handed the Tuckerman junior Lady Bulldogs their first loss of the season with a 47-44 overtime win at Tuckerman on Nov. 6.

Also for Hillcrest, Doyle scored 11 points, including a three-pointer in the final quarter to send the game into overtime. Hammock added three points and had eight rebounds. Evans tossed in six points and had 10 rebounds, and Stevie Howard had four points.
