Greene Co. electors
vote precinct wet

During last Tuesday's election, the Shady Grove precinct, located in Greene County, just outside the Lawrence County line, southeast of Sedgwick, voted to allow the sale of alcohol.

Sixty-seven voters, approximately 70 percent of the 96 registered in the precinct, cast ballots in the election. The final vote was 37 (55 percent) for and 30 (45 percent) against.

While Greene County is wet, there are a few precincts in the county that have been voted dry through the years, according to Greene County Clerk Linda Heritage. Shady Grove was one of those.

The precinct is located in a small portion of Greene County along U.S. Highway 63 that falls between Lawrence and Craighead counties, both of which are dry.
