Hillcrest boys beat Williford

The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles hosted the Williford Indians in boys basketball on Thursday at Lynn.

In senior boys action, the Eagles gained a 17-12 lead over the Indians, and continued to lead at halftime 27-22.

The Eagles began to pull away in the second half and extended the lead to 47-26 after three quarters en route to a 65-38 win.

Aaron Britton led Hillcrest with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Hunter added 13 points. Dustin Durham contributed five points. Rob Mize and Jared Parker closed with four points each.

In junior boy's action, the Eagles led 23-3 at the close of the first quarter, and 25-9 at halftime.

The junior Eagles continued their dominance in the second half, leading 46-18 after the third quarter, on their way to posting a 52-24 win.

Derek Wooten led the Eagles with 22 points and five rebounds. Dylan Wooten contributed 12 points. Coty Richey added six points. Chris Jones, Hunter Durham, Ryan Anderson, Trevor Morgan and Zach Bilbrey each recorded two points.

White County Central

Hillcrest hosted the White County Central Bears Oct. 30 at Strawberry.

WCC jumped ahead 17-9 at the close of the first quarter, but Hillcrest surged back in the second period to cut the Bears' lead to 31-27 at halftime.

Hillcrest closed to within 51-48 after three quarters, but White County Central pulled away in the final period for a 74-59 win.

Hunter led the Eagles with 22 points, including six three-pointers. Dillion Simpson followed with 10 points, while Ludie Sexton added eight and Mize contributed seven. Patrick Corder notched five points and five rebounds. Britton had four points. Durham closed with two points, and Parker tossed in a free throw.
