Bobcats ready for playoffs

The Walnut Ridge Bobcats closed the 2006 football regular season with a 57-26 loss to the Carlisle Bison Friday at Carlisle. The Bobcats travel to Earle on Friday for a first-round game in the 2A state playoffs.

Carlisle grabbed a 23-8 lead at the close of the first quarter. Walnut Ridge was unable to stop Carlisle's momentum and trailed 45-14 at halftime.

The Bison continued to stampede the Bobcats in the second half, and closed the third quarter with a commanding 51-14 lead.

Ryan Weir scored two touchdowns and ran for 126 yards for the Bobcats. Weir scored on runs of 45 yards and 32 yards in the fourth quarter. Logan Morse had 144 yards on 16 carries, and Tyler Meadors had 45 yards and one touchdown on seven carries.

Seth Chamblee had four catches for 44 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, Chamblee had nine tackles. Colton Simpson and Weir had eight tackles each.

"Carlisle has a good team, but now we have to get ready for the playoffs. We will go back to work Monday to get ready to play Earle," said Bobcat head coach Larry Treadway.
