Bobcat Tyler Ellison blocks a kick during Walnut Ridge's football game with Augusta Friday night. The Cats suffered a disappointing 12-0 loss during their final home game of the season.
Walnut Ridge was plagued by turnovers and was shut out for the first time this season in a 12-0 loss to the Augusta Red Devils Friday at Sexton Field. The loss dropped the Bobcats to 3-3-1 on the season and into a third-place tie with the Red Devils at 2-2 in 2A-3 Conference play.
Augusta scored their first touchdown in the first quarter and added another in the fourth when they recovered a Bobcat fumble in the end zone.
Walnut Ridge quarterback Tyler Meadors completed 15-of-28 passes for 119 yards, and Seth Chamblee caught seven passes for 56 yards.
"We picked a bad time to play our worst game. We have to regroup and get ready to finish strong," said Bobcat head coach Larry Treadway.
The Bobcats conclude the regular season Friday, when they travel to Marked Tree. The Indians clinched at least a tie for the conference title last week with a 46-0 win over McCrory.
