Lady Cats fall to Harrisburg

The Harrisburg Lady Hornets defeated Walnut Ridge's Lady Bobcats 19-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-8 in senior high volleyball Thursday at Harrisburg.

Morgan Witcher served seven-of-eight with two aces, 14 digs and a kill. Rachel Looney added 10 kills and nine blocks. Sarah Emison was 18-of-19 serving with an ace, 12 digs and 14 assists. Vanessa Oliver contributed 14 digs, seven kills, and two blocks.

Chelsea Treadway was 10-of-10 from the service line with 12 digs, two kills and an assist. Lacey Cobble notched 13 digs and 10 kills. Chelsi Fultner served nine-of-10 with three aces and two digs. Amber Caldwell was 10-of-11 serving with two aces, three digs and five assists. Chelsey Linebaugh served seven-of-eight with an ace, three digs and an assist.

Harrisburg also took the victory over the junior Lady Bobcats 25-21, 25-15.

Emily Holder served 10-of-11 with two aces, a kill and three assists. Regan Jean was four-of-five at the line with a kill and nine digs. Ashley Hoffman added eight digs and a kill. Amanda Emison was seven-of-eight serving with two aces, three digs, five kills and two assists. Beth Massey was seven-of-seven at the line with an ace and an assist.

Harrisburg won the senior high B match 25-20.

Linebaugh served six-of-six with three aces and three assists. Teegan Hollister was three-of-four at the line with an ace and a kill.

Walnut Ridge won a junior high B game 25-20, and the seventh graders split their match 15-10, 15-15.


Walnut Ridge hosted Bay in volleyball action on Oct. 11. The Lady Cats claimed a 25-11, 25-14, 26-24 win over the Lady Yellowjackets.

Looney notched 12 kills, an assist and three blocks. Oliver recorded six digs, six kills and a block. Cobble served 12-of-12 with three aces, two digs and a kill. Caldwell was 16-of-17 at the serving line with five aces two digs and seven assists. Treadway served 16-of-17 with four aces, six digs and a kill.

The junior Lady Yellowjackets earned a 25-21, 25-18 win over the junior Lady Cats.

Holder served 11-of-14 with five aces, a kill and three assists. Ashton Lawson went seven-of-nine with two aces and two kills, and Hoffman was four-of-four at the line with four aces and a kill.

Walnut Ridge won a senior high B match 25-12.

Carrie Massey was eight-of-nine with four aces, one dig and a kill. Caldwell served four-of-four with two aces and a kill.

The junior Lady Cats B team posted a 25-22 win over Bay.

Baker went three-of-four with two aces, two kills and three assists. Brittney Dobbs served four-of-four at the line with two aces, and Christen Holsapple served three-of-three with two aces.

The seventh grade Lady Bobcats defeated Bay 18-14, 19-11.

Dobbs, Megan Osbahr, Holsapple, Jeri Poole, Taylor Ginn, Mary Maxie, Dalesha Johnson, Brooke Blackwell, Misty Wood, Rachel Gross and Kassie Malden all contributed to the win.


Walnut Ridge traveled to Piggott on Oct. 10 and suffered a straight sets loss to the Lady Mohawks 25-12, 25-9, 25-15.

Looney earned four kills and seven blocks. Cobble served four-of-four at the line with eight digs, two kills and an assist, and Treadway was 10-of-11 at the line with an ace.

Piggott took the win in the junior high game 25-17, 25-5 over the junior Lady Cats.

Jean was six-of-six serving with two kills, and Hoffman served six-of-six with a kill.
