HHS Marching Band
receives superior rating

The Hoxie High School Marching Band received superior ratings for drum major, color guard and overall performance in the Governor's Trophy Marching Competition at Beebe High School on Oct. 10.

The band competed against nine bands, and was one of only two to receive the superior rating, the highest score possible.

Awards were presented to the band by Gov. Mike Huckabee. The band is under the direction of Brent Bristow, and the color guard sponsor is Joyce Duncan.

The next competition, the Forrest City Marching Contest, is Saturday. Region VIII Marching Contest at Paragould is Tuesday. The band will wrap up their competitive season at UCA for the Arkansas Open on Oct. 28.
