Hoxie students see new facesAmber Adams
Hoxie School has hired several new teachers this year.
Dana Davis has been hired as an aide for the preschool program at Hoxie. Davis is currently attending Black River Technical College for early childhood education. She lives in Hoxie with her husband, Kenny, and their two children, Brandon and Emily.
Kim Blakeney is also a new aide in the preschool program. She received her associate of arts from BRTC. Blakeney lives in Walnut Ridge with her two children Faith and Jazmin.
Dawn Kopp has been hired as the new kindergarten teacher. Kopp attended Williams Baptist College and ASU. She received her BSE in elementary education with a specialization in early childhood education. Kopp has taught at Oak Ridge Central, Sloan-Hendrix and Black Rock. She lives in Annieville with her husband, Matt, and their two children, Rebekah and Ethan.
DeAnna Lewis is teaching fifth grade at Hoxie this year, Lewis received her BSE from ASU and has taught at Black Rock School for the last five years. She and her husband, Alvin Lewis, Jr., who is currently stationed in Iraq with the 875th Engineering Battalion, have three children, Levi, age 10; Samuel, age three; and Lily, age one.
Leesia Harrison is the new elementary school counselor at Hoxie. She received her BSE in early childhood education and her master of science in education in counselor education from ASU. She completed additional hours to become a therapist. This December will mark 12 years in education for Harrison. She taught for six years and has been a counselor for nearly six years. Harrison and her husband, Jerry, have four children, Alysse, 16; Graham-Austin, 14; Paige, 11; and Chandler, 10.
Fran Richardson has been hired as the new special education teacher. Richardson received her degree in special education from ASU. A native of Kansas, Richardson now lives in Jonesboro with her husband, Eldon, who is a minister.
Pamela Morgan is a new high school English teacher at Hoxie School. Morgan received her degree in communication from Harding University. She has taught at Crowley's Ridge Academy and Cross County. Originally from Hardy, Morgan now lives in Walnut Ridge with her husband, J.P., and their two daughters, Caitlin and Brynna, and their son, Adam.
Larry Forrester has been hired as the head girl's basketball coach and assistant baseball and football coach. He also teaches physical education. Forrester received his bachelor of science from WBC in business administration. He currently lives in Hoxie with his wife, Ashley, and their two children, Cade and Cara.
Sean Cockrell has also been hired as an assistant football coach for Hoxie. He teaches geography and P.E. as well. Cockrell received his degree in education from ASU. A native of Waco, Texas, Cockrell now lives in Jonesboro with his wife, Holly, and their two children, Cade, age eight, and Lilli, age two.
