WR's Kent qualifies for state

The Walnut Ridge High School tennis team competed in the 2A-3 District Tennis Tournament held at Allen Park in Jonesboro on Oct. 4. The Bobcats' Jack Kent finished as runner-up in the boys singles division to qualify for the state tournament, which will be held Oct. 17-18 at Fairfield Bay.
Crowley's Ridge Academy claimed the boys team title with a score of 13, followed by Riverside with six, Walnut Ridge with three and Ridgefield Christian with 0.
In the first round, Riverside's Cliff Kramer defeated Wesley Davis of Walnut Ridge 6-1, 6-0, and Kent defeated Nathaniel Ricca of Ridgefield Christian 6-1, 6-1.
Walnut Ridge's Kent defeated Cody Richardson of Riverside 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 in the semifinals, before falling to Aaron Hudson of CRA in the finals 6-2, 6-1.
Jake Wallis and Kade Dickerson of CRA defeated the Bobcats' team of Tom Jackson and Chris Pinkston 7-5, 7-6. Jonathan Huggins and Jeremy Cohen of CRA defeated Walnut Ridge's Curtis Jackson and Matt Moore 6-1, 6-0.
